The Busy Season: Are you Staffed for the Influx of Visits this Spring
With the beginning of Spring inevitably comes an increase in visits to veterinarian clinics. From allergy appointments and increasing demand for elective procedures in the small animal clinics, to calving and foaling in the large animal practices, the second quarter of the year brings patients and revenue dollars.
With the “The Busy Season” running six months out of the year, many practices supplement their veterinary staff with relief doctors. Those offices that are already short-staffed have decisions to make: continue to add relief doctors or embrace the demanding half of the year with current staff? Alternatively, clinics can ramp up their recruiting process to hire a new veterinarian. As there are more available positions open than doctors available, the time to start looking is now.
