HOW TO DEAL WITH BURNOUT AT WORK

Burnout is a big buzzword these days when talking about concerns in the workplace. The condition is more than just feeling stressed on the job. It can cause fatigue, sadness, anxiety, negativity, hopelessness, and even headaches and stomachaches. A heavy workload, long hours, inadequate support, and other stressful conflicts can often lead to feeling burned out at work.

There are ways to combat burnout and get you back to being motivated on the job. We found these tips on indeed.com:

  1. Go on a vacation. A little time away from the source of your stress can do wonders for your mind and body.
  2. Speak honestly with your employer about what’s causing you to feel negative at work and how you can revive your positive outlook.
  3. Change up your routine or work environment. Working flexible hours or from a different location from time to time could be the break that you need without having to stop working altogether. Taking breaks throughout the day is also a good way to clear your mind and reenergize.
  4. Talk with family, friends, or even co-workers about your burnout and how you can manage your feelings and turn them around. Consider befriending a coworker to have shared experiences outside of work.
  5. Eat healthy, exercise often, and get enough sleep. That really can enhance your mood.

If you try any, or all, of these tips but still suffer from burnout, it might be time to consider finding a new place of employment to get the flame burning again in your professional life.
